Lecture – Why Do I Need a Houseplant?

Lecture – Why Do I Need a Houseplant?

Houseplants are cool, fun and hip. For city dwellers, indoor gardening is attractive due to lack of space and disconnect from nature’s forests and trees. This attraction to nature can be seen not only in our homes but in our offices, recreational spaces and more. The increase of indoor plants sales is the highest we’ve ever seen and is changing how we connect with each other from Instagram and other social media outlets, as well as events and workshops.

When gardening indoors, many of us struggle with getting it right, and although you try your best some plants do not always make it. We will get down to the facts about indoor gardening and talk about how to correct mistakes and stop plant stress before it becomes fatal. If you’ve ever asked yourself “Why do I keep killing my plants?” —you are not alone.

This free lecture will talk about the history of houseplants, the relationship and developments between human and ornamental houseplants, as well as tips to create a better microclimate in your home, how to choose the right plant, care for them year-round, and how to bring out the best in your existing houseplants.
