On July 1st we’re organizing the Trashlesstival at the Ceuvel in the North of Amsterdam! This entire day is focused on dealing with the trash in the neighborhood of Buiksloterham: cleaning the streets and the canals and turning the trash into new items, enjoying inspirational and educational workshops, documentaries and various performances about waste.
You can meet new people while trashdating or go trashhunting with your trashuremap! Collect enough trash and be rewarded with free drinks at the Ceuvel bar. Returning at de Ceuvel, we will have some live music, while artists help you to transform the trash you have found into works of art.
A great day full of lots of interesting activities and workshops about cleaning up your own environment. Start saving the planet one bottle at the time! Trashless.Earth will give a presentation about the importance of Trashlesstival. CMV (Cultural and Social Development) students will be present to give an interactive ‘DIY Eco-Bricks Chair’ workshop where you will learn how to create a reusable building block and make furniture by using a plastic bottle packed with plastic waste. Moreover you can expect an unique and energizing dance performance by Lorenzo Capodieci. During his performance the trash will be transformed and brought to life.
Stephanie van der Wiel, who travels around the world to photograph indigenous tribes, will be present for the brainstorm session to come up with ideas what a isolated tribe should do if they find plastic. Finally, in the evening we will screen the documentary KLEANkids about a group of enthusiastic youngsters from Amsterdam-Noord who are looking for the causes and solutions for the litter problem in their neighbourhood.
