North Tour: District in transition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the Ceuvel, the surrounding area of Amsterdam-Noord has much more to offer. This former industrial zone is undergoing a major urban transformation, with the Ceuvel playing a key role in the process. Historically, this was a rural area with small farming villages located north of the IJ. At the start of the 20th century, Amsterdam relocated its polluting industries to this part of Noord, where garden villages were later developed to improve the living conditions of industrial workers. A century later, most of these large industrial companies have either shut down or moved elsewhere. Today, the area is gradually evolving into a modern, sustainable urban neighborhood. Its prime location between the cultural hotspot of NDSM and the Central Station is making it an increasingly popular part of the city. Noord\u2019s rich history, combined with ongoing urban renewal projects, has transformed the area into a thriving hub for creativity and innovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on your specific interest we offer two differt tours that each have a specific focus on a different aspect of the transformation of Amsterdam North, both start with a small tour of the Ceuvel itself.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Urban Development Tour:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This tour focuses on the urban development of the neighborhood. We explore various innovative construction projects and look at the sustainable urban development initiatives that are shaping the future of Noord. The Ceuvel Tours are organized by Association de Ceuvel. The fantastic and sustainable cafe-restaurant Cafe de Ceuvel is also located on our site. Their story is also part of the tour. If you would like to have drinks, lunch, dinner or snacks with them before or afterwards, please let them know in advance by making a direct reservation with them.
