STORY
The documentary “REBELS WITH CAUSE”, examines the concept of guerrilla gardening. A movement of people with a clear goal: greening the city. A concept that originated in the 1970s in New York. In the documentary, we follow the – as they call themselves – ‘rebels with a cause’ through the metropolis of London.

SYNOPSIS
Guerrilla gardening is not for the faint-hearted. Or at least, that’s what these two rebels tell us, as we follow them on an eye-opening journey around London – throwing seeds everywhere and anywhere, planting spider plants, and planning their ‘Big Project’. But when they finally track down the Original Guerrilla Gardeners (OGGs), and learn what guerrilla gardening really entails and how it’s helping our communities, their beliefs and friendship are put to the test. In this humorous mockumentary, we meet the people who are doing their bit to bring ‘botanarchy’ to our urban spaces.

“Wielding trowels, rakes, and seed shakers, they take to the streets under the cover of darkness to leave little pockets of nature in an otherwise concrete landscape, reclaiming space and pushing back against climate apathy; encouraging nature to thrive even in the most hostile of spaces, and promoting access to nature for everyone.”
