What is the Community Dinner?
Every Monday evening, Café de Ceuvel hosts a community dinner. Six days a week, we operate as a regular restaurant, where you are served at your table, your table is cleared, and our guests are taken care of. But on Monday evenings, we simply become a living room where everyone who feels like it can come together to share a meal. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming: young and old sit together at long tables, chatting animatedly about the latest happenings. You serve yourself from large pots of food and pour yourself a cup of tea from a thermos on the table. Nothing fancy, nothing complicated, just sharing a meal with people from your neighbourhood. Come and experience it for yourself, and you’ll soon find yourself looking forward to joining us for dinner at De Ceuvel every Monday.
The meal is essentially free, because we want the Community Dinner to be accessible to everyone. Of course, cooking for 100 people does come with costs. That’s why we ask guests to make a donation. To cover our expenses, a contribution of €5–15 would be appreciated, but if that’s too much for you, you’re welcome to give whatever you can afford. And if you can’t spare anything at all, that’s absolutely fine too!
The meal is donation-based, but if you can’t afford to contribute, you’re still more than welcome to join us for dinner!
