About the Mini-Safaris:
Come on an adventure! In a fun and accessible way, children discover just how much life can be found right in their own neighbourhood.
During these Mini-Safaris (8 in total), they explore the De Ceuvel grounds together with a guide. You’ll search for everything that lives, crawls, flies or grows between the pavement, jetties and bushes. Think snails, bees, aquatic creatures, birds and plants. Afterwards, you’re guaranteed to look at the nature around you with different eyes.
About this safari: Aquatic Creatures
Join us on a Mini-Safari to discover the aquatic creatures of De Ceuvel together with nature expert Amber Beernink from the Waterkaravaan! We’ll discover what lives in and around the water near the pond, underneath logs, between willow branches and along the jetty. Using ObsIdentify (an app), we’ll find out together which species we come across and hear fun facts about how they are able to live here.
Then we’ll get hands-on ourselves: using willow branches, we’ll make small underwater homes for aquatic insects and other tiny organisms. To finish, we’ll head indoors for a digital water safari on the big screen. You’ll get a colouring sheet and flyer to take home.

For this safari, we will start and stay at De Ceuvel. Please arrive on time.
Children participate under the supervision of a parent, carer or another responsible adult. Please do not leave your child unattended – as a parent/carer, you remain responsible for your child.
Parents are very welcome to join in: the safaris are fun and educational for all ages.
