Zoöp Art Project Presentation: Jewelry with Seeds for a Better Future
Over the past few weeks, Maryna, a young artist from Ukraine, has been working on a special Zoöp project in collaboration with Mediamatic, the Ukrainian Institute, and De Ceuvel.
Inspired by our phytoremediation practices – using plants to clean contaminated soil – she began researching which seeds and plants could help restore the land in her home country after the war. Which plants can help tackle pollution caused by war?
Her goal was to design biodegradable jewelry containing these seeds, creating a personal connection between the wearer and the seeds. At the right moment, the seeds can be planted, contributing to a better future. Last weekend, she hosted a workshop about her project at Mediamatic.
Maryna is very excited about the results and will share her work with us on Wednesday, October 21, from 12:00 to approximately 12:30/1:00 PM at De Ceuvel.
Ceuvel community member Anke Wijnja will be making grilled cheese sandwiches (tosti’s) for everyone who joins!
